Today on the midday report with host Brian Venua: The Kodiak Island Borough Solid Waste Advisory Board recently announced winners of its art competition, Cook Inlet will have to find a new management plan for salmon fishing, folks share about meeting distant family at Camai in Bethel, a 2% sales tax was pitched in the state legislature, and Katmai National Park is soliciting input about their new permitting system.

Born and raised in Dillingham, Brian Venua graduated from Gonzaga University before ultimately returning to Alaska. He moved to Kodiak and joined KMXT in 2022. Venua has since won awards for the newsroom as both a writer and photojournalist, with work focused on strengthening community, breaking down complex topics, and sharing stories of and for the people of the Kodiak Archipelago.
