Former Kodiak Island Borough School District Superintendent Larry Ledoux will be a new addition to the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly. LeDoux was the frontrunner by several hundred votes even before the borough’s canvass last week, and received the most votes of all the candidates running for a three-year term on the Assembly.
Incumbent Jared Griffin was re-elected to serve another three-year term; he received only three votes more than incumbent Scott Arndt to retain his seat on the Assembly. For transparency, Griffin is a member of KMXT’s staff.
Griffin held a slight lead over Arndt in the initial vote tally the day after the Oct. 4 election. But more than 800 votes still needed to be counted – the bulk of which were from Kodiak’s villages.
Incumbent assembly member Joe Delgado will also retain his seat on the Assembly for another one-year term. And current assembly member Aimee Williams was elected as the new borough mayor. She was running unopposed and will assume the role from outgoing mayor Bill Roberts next week.
The city of Kodiak also canvassed and certified its city council election results last week. Incumbents John Whiddon and Charlie Davidson will serve another three years on the council. The results were certified at a city council meeting last week.
