Despite a recent reduction in active cases as Kodiak residents recover from COVID-19, community spread cases are still occurring.
The Kodiak Area Emergency Services Organization reported two new cases in a release today. One is a Kodiak resident who is believed to have contracted COVID through unknown community spread, the other is a close contact of a previously announced case. Contact tracing is underway.
This brings the total case count to 146 since the start of the pandemic, with 16 cases currently classified as active. Nine individuals recently completed their isolation period, and have been removed from the active case total.
