The US Coast Guard has scheduled a formal hearing on the sinking of the F/V Scandies Rose.
The hearing will begin Monday, February 22 in the Seattle area, and will proceed through March 5.
While the hearing will take place in person, abiding by Washington State COVID-19 protocols, it will also be livestreamed each day beginning at 7am Alaska time. Each session will be archived so the public can watch at a later date.
According to a Coast Guard press release, the hearing will focus on conditions influencing the Scandies Rose before and during the tragedy. This will include weather, icing, fisheries, the boat’s condition, testimony from the survivors, among other regulatory and organizational issues.
Updates on the hearing will be posted to the Maritime Commons, a Coast Guard blog, and via Twitter with the hashtag #ScandiesRoseMBI.
If you would like to provide information, ask questions, and make comments related to the hearing, you can email the investigators at ScandiesRoseMBI@uscg.mil.
