There’s new leadership for the Coast Guard’s Anchorage sector, its largest geographic area, which encompasses Western Alaska, the North Slope, the Aleutian Islands and Prince William Sound.

Captain Leanne Lusk took the helm at a change of command ceremony at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson on Wednesday. The outgoing commander is Captain Sean Mackenzie, who has been reassigned to the Coast Guard’s Africa Command in Germany

Lusk brings her experience from directing Coast Guard operations in a four-state area on and around Lake Michigan and the Illinois Waterway.

Capt. Gregory Fuller, chief of staff for the Coast Guard’s 17th District, presided over the event, which was modified to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
