Kodiak High School will host its third annual College and Career Fair this Friday and Saturday. The event will feature more than 20 presenters and offer students, their parents and members of the public the opportunity to hear presentations from education, military and career professionals.

KMXT's Erik Wander has more.

Susan Blott, a guidance counselor at Kodiak High School, said the 2009 Kodiak High School College and Career Fair will offer students the opportunity to hear six presenters of their choice during the school day on Friday.

--          (Blott 1            16 sec.             "The have all chosen ... different representatives.")

Blott said the students' options range from educational to vocational to military and other training opportunities.

--          (Blott 2            34 sec.             "It could be colleges ... programs that are available.")

The event's third year has garnered more speakers and presenters from more varied organizations than in previous years, when mostly colleges took part.

--          (Blott 3            35 sec.             "It's definitely an increase ... to explore as well.")

Despite the wide range of organizations participating this year, educational institutions still seem to be most popular among students, followed closely by the military, according to Blott's tracking of student requests.

--          (Blott 4            30 sec.             "UAA and UAF have gotten ... law enforcement was real popular.")

The 2009 Kodiak High School College and Career Fair will only be open to students during the school day on Friday but also takes place on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to noon in the Kodiak High School Commons and is open to the public. Blott invites anyone in search of educational or career opportunities to attend. I'm Erik Wander.
