The Kodiak Island Borough Assembly unanimously approved a resolution at its Thursday evening regular meeting adopting a 2009 capital improvement project priority list. The list, which is submitted to the state for consideration, includes improvement and infrastructure needs the assembly has identified for both borough communities and the City of Kodiak.
The capital improvement project priority list includes some 40 million dollars for Kodiak City needs. Mission Road safety and other road improvements, as well as Baranof Park improvements, a UV water treatment facility, new library and jail construction top the list. The request for state funding also includes about 68 million dollars for capital improvement projects in other borough communities.

Bud Cassidy, filling in for Borough Manager Rick Gifford at Thursday's meeting, said the list has already been submitted to the state and reviewed by the public and governing bodies.

Borough Mayor Jerome Selby said he eagerly anticipates the Governor's state budgetary decisions.
--    (Assembly 2     31 sec        "We had done ours ... it's much more limited.")
The Borough Assembly will hold its next work session December 11th, with the next regular meeting scheduled for December 18th.
