Last week a group of Alaska high school students had the experience of a lifetime. The teens took the stage to sing with the rock band Foreigner at the Alaska State Fair. It didn’t matter that most of Foreigners hits came out well before the students were born. The 25 young vocalists littered the stage and belted out lyrics to a crowd of almost 4,000.
The two dozen students were actually winners of a contest sponsored by Foreigner and the GRAMMY Foundation. The foundation helps fund music education programs in high schools across the country. Foreigner donated 100 percent of its proceeds from CD sales at the event to the foundation.
Kodiak’s own Shannon Woods was one of the talented participants that took the stage. KMXT’s Brianna Gibbs caught up with the high school junior to learn about her shared act with one of the most well-known rock bands in the world.
