Ng Appointed to State Council

            A Kodiak man has been appointed by the governor to a seat on the State Council on Educational Opportunity for Military Children. Jimmy Ng has been heavily involved with local health care since retiring from the U.S. Coast Guard in 2002.
            He works as the director of mission and spiritual care for Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center, and has been the director of the Kodiak Island Health Care Foundation. He’s also served on the boards of several local organizations, such as the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce, Kodiak College, Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center and the Rotary Club. He retired from the Coast Guard after 34-years of service.
            The State Council on Educational Opportunity for Military Children works to provide for the coordination among state government agencies, local education agencies, and military installations concerning the state's compliance of Educational Opportunity for Military Children.
            Also appointed was Pete Lewis, superintendent of the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District.
