            High school football practice just started on Monday, but given the short season, teams aren't wasting any time getting on the gridiron. The Kodiak High School Bears will see action at 1 p.m. on August 10^th, against the West Anchorage JV team in a non-division game.

            Since the new field surface at Baranof Park is still being installed, that game, and the next one on Saturday the 18^th against division rival Houston, will be played at the KANA Field on Woody Way.

            The Bears will be on the road the three weekends after that, including a trip to Juneau to play Thunder Mountain.

            City of Kodiak Public Works Director Ian Fulp said they hope to have work done on the new artificial "field turf" at Baranof Park in time for the homecoming game against Soldotna on September 15^th.
