Tourists
wanting to make their way to Kodiak will soon have a new option for
travel between the island and the mainland, at least for the summer.
KMXT’s Casey Kelly reports. (Terry 1 :19s “…flight back to Homer.”) Flights will leave Kodiak at noon on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, arriving in Homer about an hour later. The return flight to Kodiak leaves Homer a little after 1:00 and arrives around 2 o’ clock. One-way tickets will be 289 dollars, while roundtrip travel will cost 538 dollars. Terry says this isn’t the first time Island Air has offered regular service to Homer, but she says they didn’t work out because most people didn’t know about them. (Terry 2 :22s “…so, we’ll see.”) Count Kodiak Island Convention And Visitor’s Bureau Executive Director Janet Buckingham as one of those excited about Island Air’s new service to Homer. (Buckingham 1 :07s “…yahoo for Island Air!”) Buckingham says one thing she’s been asked repeatedly by people interested in coming to Kodiak are the different ways to get to the island, and she says there’s definitely demand for more service. (Buckingham 2 :28s “…way to get here.”) You can check out a full schedule of Island Air Service’s flights at their website, Kodiak Island Air dot com. I’m Casey Kelly.
