Wide Range of Services Available Through Senior Citizes of Kodiak

            May is "Older Americans Month," and given that Kodiak's senior citizen population grows by about 10 percent per year, KMXT's Talk of the Rock hosted three people whose jobs it is to help folks in Kodiak live longer, with independence, honor and dignity.

              That phrase is actually the mission statement of the Senior Citizens of Kodiak , which Executive Director Pat Branson says truly does drive the mission of the center.

            Marita Kaplan, the director of the Island Cove Adult Day Program at the senior center says the longevity of the staff contributes to the quality of service seniors receive:

            Kaplan says that while services at the senior center are for those 60 and older, Island Cove is open to anyone who needs their services:

            Rio Demers (D'merrs), with the senior in-home and family care-giver program, says the Kodiak Senior Center can help individuals care for their senior family members, even from afar:
