The Kodiak Chapter of Soroptimist International is holding its annual Women's History Month art exhibit at the Gerald C. Wilson Auditorium this month, with an opening reception tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon.

Laurie Murdock is the secretary of the Kodiak chapter.

The theme this year is "Writing Women back into History." Murdock says the show is simply an exhibit, and none of the artwork is for sale on the spot, though patrons may contact the artists directly. She said its purpose is simply to promote art, women and Soroptimist International.

Audrey Farfalla (far-fall-ah), vice president of the Kodiak Soroptimists, says there's a variety of art to enjoy:

The exhibit is open from 1 to 5 tomorrow, and the Soroptimists will be awarding two grants during the opening reception at 3 p.m.:

Later this year, the Soroptimists are planning a Young Women's Conference for Kodiak.
