Parks Board Denied Access to Airport EIS

            The Kodiak State Park Citizen's Advisory Board has been anxiously awaiting the release of the FAA's latest publication regarding the upcoming expansion of the Kodiak Airport runway.

            Concern for the potential affects on Kodiak's parks has kept the board involved in the project from early on. The board has played an active role in providing public comment on the proposed expansion plans.

            On Monday afternoon the FAA released a preliminary version of the draft environmental impact statement, or EIS.

Kevin Murphy is the Kodiak District Ranger for Department of Alaska's State Parks. He explained to KMXT's Diana Gish, that the release of the document came with a surprise for the advisory board:
