Election season officially kicked off yesterday (Monday) here in Kodiak, with the availability of nominating forms at both the city and borough clerks’ offices for Kodiak Island Borough Assembly, School Board, Kodiak City Council and several service area districts. Jay Barrett has more.

            Legendary Alaskan entertainer Mr. Whitekeys was in Kodiak Thursday filming scenes for his new DVD about Alaska History. KMXT’s Jay Barrett spent the afternoon watching the filming down at Saint Paul Harbor and has this story. The local peformers were: Claire Brodie, Kelly Cassidy, Kaila Cotler, Bethany Donohue, Paula Ensign, Marcia Lynn, Sarah Macintosh and Kimberly Martin.

Pink Salmon Run Weak So Far

            Commercial salmon catch forecasts for pink salmon are low this year. Alaska Department of Fish and Game Area Management Biologist Jeff Wadle(WAD-LEE) says humpies are coming in weak around most parts of the island.
