Gubernatorial Candidate Fisheries Debate

KMXT and the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce are pleased to bring you the Gubernatorial Candidate Fisheries Debate on Thursday, August 28 at the Gerald C. Wilson Auditorium and broadcast live on 100.1FM. The three candidates for the office of Governor - Sean Parnell, Bryron Mallot and Bill Walker will face off from 7 - 9pm. Attendees at the debate can write out questions for the candidates that may be used in the debate. 

 

Meanwhile, the City Council meeting will be broadcast live on our sister station, KODK 90.7FM.

 

Kodiak Public Broadcasting: Keeping you aprised of local and statewide politics. Just another idea that's worth supporting!

 
KPBC Annual Meeting

We'll be hosting our annual meeting on September 6 at the Kodiak Inn Harbor Room. All members are invited and encouraged to attend! Keep an eye on your mailbox for your invitation. This years business meeting will include a multi media presentation of this year's happenings, an opportunity to meet the staff and for you, our members, to vote on incoming board members. 

 

The meeting schedule is as follows:

6pm - 6:30pm Sign in

6:30 - 7:30pm Complimentary Dinner

7:30pm Business Meeting

              There are few better ways to spend a nice summer day than hanging out at the playground, climbing up the ladders, sliding down the slides, and swinging on the monkey bars. KMXT's Casey Kelly recently visited the newest playground in Kodiak and has this report.

In one instance, Alaska is at the bottom of the barrel, and that’s not a bad thing. A recent Tax Foundation special report says Alaska ranks last in tax burdens out of all fifty states. Mary Donaldson has more.

Supreme Court Punts On Exxon Interest Decision

            The US Supreme Court today (Tuesday) declined to rule on the issue of whether plaintiffs in the Exxon Valdez oil spill case should receive interest on top of their already reduced punitive damages from the 1989 spill that fouled thousands of miles of Alaska’s coastline from Prince William Sound to Kodiak and beyond. KMXT’s Casey Kelly has more.

            If you’ve driven down Mill Bay Road passed Coon Field anytime recently, you’ve probably noticed the new Kodiak High School pool building being constructed.

            While the project is still about a year from completion, the Kodiak Island Borough Board of Education is already talking about how to decorate it once it’s finished.
