We'll be featuring vintage programming, old school tunes, and live music. Stop by for some food, pledges and photo-fun at any time today.  It'll be especially fun from 6 - 7pm when White Twang will be doing their thing in the studio! Hope you can make it. 
 
Phone Volunteers Needed!

We need phone volunteers to help take pledges on Thursday during our one-day membership drive! Shifts start at 6am and go until 7pm, and are two hours long. If you would like to contribute to public radio in more ways than one this fall, give us a call at 486-3181.

            The Integrated Support Command Kodiak has a new commanding officer. In a change of command ceremony Friday, Captain Jesse Moore relieved Captain Mark Carmel. KMXT's Erik Wander has more.

            Alaska legislators appear likely to confirm Governor Sarah Palin's latest choice for attorney general, and Kodiak's representatives to Juneau expressed similar confidence that Dan S. Sullivan will be approved. But first, the House and Senate Judiciary Committees have to thoroughly review his credentials and interim job performance.

City Councilman Maker Resigns

            Kodiak City Councilman Jack Maker has resigned. In a letter to the mayor and his colleagues, Maker said he no longer lives within city limits, and therefore was forced to step down.

            The council will accept his resignation at its meeting on Thursday, and likely publicize the vacancy. The council has until July 9th to appoint his replacement, who will then serve until the municipal elections in October, at which time the seat will be on the ballot for a one-year term. Maker was elected in 2007 to a three year term on the council.

Come Have Coffee with a Ranger

            The Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center's "Coffee with a Ranger" program is now underway. The weekly event offers visitors and residents an opportunity to connect with experts on a variety of wildlife issues.

            The next "Coffee with a Ranger" presentation will take place at 1 p.m. on June 24th.  Naturalist Doug Stuart will discuss National Wildlife Refuges from Kodiak to Attu.
