state, while the volleyball team came up game short of a birth to the
championships. Here at home, a large handful of wrestlers won their classes at
the Robin Hervey Tournament.
swimming, the Kodiak girls placed second in the state swimming and diving
championships Saturday at Anchorage's Bartlett High School, behind powerhouse
Service High School. Laura Griffing brought back her third state title by
winning the 100-meter breast stroke in 1-minute 6.57-seconds - about a
second-and-a-half faster than second place. Kodiak's Myra Scholze was third,
about two-seconds back. Celeste Beck-Goodell was second in the 500 freestyle
and 7th in the 200 individual medley. Jori Lundquist was 4th
in the 200 freestyle and the 100 backstroke, Laura Griffing was 6th
in the 100 freestyle, and Sophie Hogan was 7th from the 1-meter

medley relay, and 5th in the 200 freestyle relay.
the boy's side, the team was 5th overall, with Dimond winning the
championship. Scott Wandersee was 2nd in 1-meter diving, Nando
Macinko was 3rd in the 100 backstroke and 5th in the 50
freestyle, Austin Reed was 5th in the 200 freestyle, and Clayton
Schauff was 8th in the 100 butterfly. The boys were 3rd
in the 400 freestyle relay and 4th in the 200 freestyle relay.

the volleyball court at the Northern Lights Conference championships, the
Kodiak Bears were bounced by the Soldotna Stars in three games in their match
for the last berth to the state championships. The Bears had beaten the Stars
3-games-to-1 in the opening round of the tournament. Soldotna will be joining
Palmer and Colony in the state tourney.
the Robin Hervey Wrestling Tournament, Elisha Fields, Chloe Ivanoff, Alex
Lounsbury, Isaac Fields, Person Brodie, David Castonguay, Thomas Long and
Anthony Atonio all won their respective weight classes. Teams from Palmer,
Houston and North Pole were in Kodiak for the event.
