At Thursday's Kodiak City Council meeting, City Manager Linda Freed renewed her call for citizens to serve on the Kodiak Fisheries Development Association, a joint city-borough board that would advocate for the community regarding crab rationalization.

The city council also presented a certificate of appreciation to former city councilman Dave Woodruff and Alaska Fresh Seafoods, which he runs.

--          (City 1             35 sec              "For the last three or ... the positions that are available.")

Councilman Jack Maker said the committees serve a vital community need, and are an opportunity for citizens to expand their horizons as well:

--          (City 2             16 sec              "We are a fishing community ... of those committees.")

Freed echoed Maker's points, and added that the application period is open until filled:

--          (City 3             33 sec              "Fisheries are the heart of ... the borough clerk's office.")

Councilman Tom Walters thanked his former colleague for all he's done for the city and the community:

--          (City 4                         45 sec              "Dave Woodruff, if you're ... for years to come.")

Woodruff, who left the council with health issues, was undergoing treatment out of town and was not present at the meeting, but his son Mike, was there to accept the proclamation.
