The City of Kodiak didn’t have to look far for its new chief of police. Ronda Wallace, most recently the lieutenant in charge of the department’s operational division was named chief on Friday.
Wallace is a 15-year veteran with the Kodiak Police Department, beginning her career in 1998. She worked her way up through the ranks, and has been, at various times, a patrol officer, investigator, detective, and sergeant.
She has had FBI and State of Alaska academy training, and is a certified member of the sexual assault response team.
In a release, City Manager Aimee Kniaziowski said Wallace will be an asset to the city in her new role as chief.
Wallace replaces T.C. Kamai, who retired in September after 25 years with the KPD.
