The 16-year-old Kodiak boy shot who was shot by another teen on Sunday evening has died in Anchorage. Kodiak Police Department Lieutenant Ray Ellis said the boy succumbed to his injuries yesterday (Wednesday). Ellis declined to release the name of the victim, citing his age.
He likewise couldn’t release the name of the 15-year-old boy who is accused of the shooting. That boy was charged earlier this week with first degree assault. He had been lodged at the Kodiak jail.
In announcing the arrest, Police Chief T.C. Kamai said additional charges were possible. Ellis said the investigation into the shooting is ongoing and did not say if the accused shooter would face more serious charges in light of the victim’s death.
The shooting happened in a home where the victim was visiting at about 8:45 on Sunday night. He was transported to Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center with a single shotgun wound and later medevac’d to Anchorage.
