Fan Con in Kodiak brings together popular culture enthusiasts

Kodiak Public Library hosted the island’s second-ever popular culture convention, Fan Con, on March 22 and 23. Attendees competed in video game tournaments, watched movies, made various crafts together, and heard from a published author. Kodiak’s Spaceport has a new CEO months after last one was ousted and Alaska Aerospace leadership was shaken up

A retired U.S. Air Force Colonel is the new president and chief executive officer of the Alaska Aerospace Corporation, which oversees Kodiak’s Pacific Spaceport Complex on Narrow Cape. Old Harbor hydroelectric powerhouse gets millions in funding to help finalize project that will benefit all residents

The village of Old Harbor, on the southeast side of Kodiak Island, is one step closer to building a hydroelectric facility that would power the entire community of roughly 200 people.
