The Northern Lights Conference Basketball Tournament kicks off today, though the Kodiak girls will be sitting out the first round. That’s because the Lady Bears are the Number 2 seeds and won’t play until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest.
Number 1 ranked Wasilla will also get a first round bye, leaving Colony, host Soldotna, Palmer and Kenai Central to play today’s games, which start 4:45 p.m.
Over on the boy’s side, the Bears are the third ranked team, and see action this afternoon at 3 p.m. against Number 6 Kenai. The winner goes on to face Number 2 Palmer on Friday. Number 1 seed Colony will face the winner of today’s Soldotna and Wasilla game.
The tournament runs through Saturday in Soldotna, with berths to next week’s state championship on the line.
