Last night the Kodiak City Council decided to postpone a vote on ordinance that seeks to redefine public records. Under the proposed ordinance, reference and transitory documents would be excluded from the definitions of city and public records. The council heard from a number of concerned community members during the public hearing on the ordinance and Councilman John Whiddon said some concerns are more valid than others.

--          (City Transparency 1             :43                   “You know I’ve actually…to interpretation.”)

Whiddon’s confusion on the matter led him to ask for a postponement of the vote until more information can be provided.

--          (City Transparency 2             :11                   “I would like to move to... permanent record.”)

The motion passed in a 4-1 vote with Councilman Charlie Davidson voting against the postponement.
