Mill Bay Culvert Cleared of Deadfall as Salmon Return PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 16 August 2012
mill-bay-culvert-cleared-15.jpgThe culvert that connects Island Lake to Mill Bay has been cleared of scores of deadfall logs and stumps. Kodiak Soil and Water Conservation staff attempted cleaning the salmon stream's culver, which runs under Rezanof Drive East, two weeks ago, but could barely budge the logjam. Dave Kaplan says the state used heavy equipment to get the job done, and just in time, as salmon are starting to return to spawn. Dave Kaplan/KSWCD photo
