There are so far two confirmed candidates for Kodiak City Council, according to the clerk's office. Rich Walker and incumbent Gabriel Saravia have had their nominating petitions certified. Mark Vizcocho, who was appointed to the council in February to fill the vacated term of Josie Rosales, is the other incumbent.

Incumbent Norm Wooten is so far the only candidate for the two open seats on the Board of Education. Meanwhile, current school board member Aaron Griffin has filed for one of the two available seats on the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly.

The filing deadline is August 15.
