A Kodiak man will spend 41 months in prison after his conviction on charges of dealing methamphetamines.

The U.S. Attorney's office in Anchorage says in a release that 40-year-old David Ramirez was sentenced yesterday in U.S. District Court in Fairbanks for his conviction on one count of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Judge Sharon Gleason also ordered that Ramirez must serve three years of supervised release after his prison term

The case stems from an October traffic stop by a Kodiak Police Officer. The department's drug-sniffing dog detected the narcotics and the vehicle was searched, revealing meth, packing material, scales and two loaded firearms. While being booked, four more grams of meth were found on Ramirez.
