Kodiak's
Trevor Dunbar, a sophomore at the University of Oregon, has been named an
All-American after placing sixth in the 5,000 meter run at the NCAA Division 1
national championships Friday night.
The race,
held in Des Moines, Iowa, was won by Southern Utah's Cameron Levins in 13
minutes, 40 seconds. Dunbar's time was 13:44.16.
Dunbar was
previously named All-American in cross country running at the University of Portland
his freshman and sophomore years there. Dunbar transferred to Oregon between
semesters this past school year.
He's not
the only Alaska to make All-American honors at the NCAA championship. Jordan
Clarke, a Bartlett High School graduate and current Arizona State junior,
captured his third consecutive NCAA Division I national title in the shot put
with a throw of 66 feet, 11.25 inches.
