If you're a
business owner, or are thinking a small business is in your future, you may
want to sign up for several special training sessions being held in Kodiak on
Monday and Tuesday the 16th and 17th.

Center, two workshops are
slated as well as a free business counseling session for individual business
owners.
The "Business Start-up Workshop" runs
9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday. The instructor will identify skills, provide
information, and give resources that will help you start a business on Kodiak Island. The start-up workshop is free.
The Monday afternoon
session - titled "Everyone Needs a Business Plan" - will guide you through ways
to strengthen your business plan by creating meaningful narratives that
describe your business goals. It will help you establish budgets, plan
strategies for marketing and give you techniques for evaluating your successes
and failures. The business plan workshop costs $40.
The instructor
for the workshops is Bryan Zak who is the South West Regional Director of the Alaska Small
Business Development
Center. In addition to
the Monday sessions, Zak will also be available on Tuesday for free client
counseling.
The
workshops and business counseling will be held at the chamber of commerce
building at the ferry dock. The deadline for sign-up is today (Friday).
