ComFish 2010 is now taking place in downtown Kodiak. Gathering from around the state, the country and beyond are people with stakes in the world of commercial fisheries. The Fisheries tradeshow is taking place downtown in the Kodiak Convention Center. The fisheries policy forums are held across the street in the Kodiak Island Best Western.

This evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. is the "Taste of Kodiak" seafood reception at the Kodiak Island Best Western.

Sharing a run-down of Friday's events is one of the organizers of the forums, Laine Welch.

--          (ComFish Friday 1              "On Friday, finding ... about opportunities.")

Welch described what to expect at Friday  afternoon's policy forum sessions.

--          (ComFish Friday 2                      "and then at noon ... protect Bristol Bay.")

Another timely topic being discussed Friday (this) afternoon at three o'clock is oil and gas development in the nation's "fish basket", the eastern Bering Sea and Bristol Bay. That's followed tomorrow (this) evening by a couple of "tasty" events.

--          (ComFish Friday 3                                            "And then Savor ... last year.")

The ComFish tradeshow continues Friday (today)and Saturday, opening at 10 a.m. each day at the Kodiak Harbor Convention Center downtown.
