This afternoon, Kodiak residents have the opportunity to offer testimony on the state operating budget during a hearing of the House Finance Committee.

Kodiak Representative Alan Austerman serves on that committee.

--          (Budget 1                                 "The public testimony ... to comment on.")

During the hearing, the public is invited to offer feedback on funding allocations for programs such as the University's Marine Advisory Program, the budget for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, or funding related to education.

Copies of the Governor's proposed operating budget, also known as HB 300, are available at Kodiak's Legislative Office.

--          (Budget 2                                      "The main concern ... as they see fit.")

Austerman said that those who are interested in seeing funding for the Marine Advisory Program restored to the University of Alaska budget can testify this afternoon. Public testimony on the proposed operating budget is scheduled from 4:15 to 5 p.m. today (Wednesday, March 3rd) for the Kodiak, Homer and Kenai areas.

On Friday, Austerman will be back in Kodiak and will host an open house at his office from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. He says he's eager to hear concerns and to share information about the legislative session which is now at the half-way mark.

The representative's office is located inside the Kodiak L.I.O which is at 112 Mill Bay Road.
