The power outage that hit Kodiak Sunday morning was caused by icing on wires, according to a Kodiak Electric Association spokeswoman. Nancy Sweeney said icing problems on the transmission line from the Terror Lake hydro generator caused the system-wide outage.

The power went out at 11:13 a.m., and was back online throughout the system about an hour later, at 12:15 p.m.

Terror Lake is about 20 miles west-southwest of Kodiak City, and inaccessible by car.
