The general manager of the Best Western Kodiak Inn has made "Alaska's Top Forty Under 40" list. Susan Johnson was honored by the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce and Alaska Journal of Commerce as one of the state's top young business professionals.

Johnson said it was a "great honor" to be selected for the award.

Johnson and 39 others from across the state were honored Thursday at a luncheon during the 3rd annual Anchorage Chamber Back to Business Conference and Trade Show.

Johnson has been the general manager of Kodiak's Best Western for seven years after working in different areas of hotel management and food service. She also has a master's degree in seafood microbiology.

Award recipients were selected based on professional excellence and commitment to community. In addition to her work as general manager, she was noted for the role she played in the creation of the Kodiak Harbor Convention Center which her family also owns. Johnson serves as a board member in the Kodiak Island Convention and Visitor's Bureau.

Johnson said the award is an incentive to keep doing her best. She talked about her goals for the coming years.

Alaska's Top Forty Under 40 was created in 1998 by the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce and the Alaska Journal of Commerce.
