At the school board's last regular meeting, director of operations Scott Williams gave an update on the progress of the Kodiak High School expansion and renovation. During last month's borough election, voters passed a bond proposition to fund the project. The measure passed by a narrow margin of 167 votes.

With the campaign for the bond vote over, there's a great deal of work to be done before any construction can begin on the high school. Williams outlined five points that are to serve as guidelines as the multi-year project takes shape.

In addition to bond sales and the state building fund re-imbursement program, the district is searching for other monies. Williams talked about that on-going hunt for funds.

In order to prepare the application for an Alaska Energy Authority research grant, the borough and school district have been meeting with the architect of the school's current conceptual plans.

A resolution for approval of the grant application will go before the assembly at its Regular Meeting on Thursday. If adopted; the application is expected to be submitted the following week.

Williams said the school district is seeking input from the community during all of the planning and implementation phases of the project.
