The Alaska Journal of Commerce has once again named Edward Jones Investments to the number one spot on the Best Places to Work in Alaska List for 2009. It's an honor the company received both last year and in 2007.

Craig Johnson, who opened the first Edward Jones office in Kodiak almost 12 years ago, agrees that it's a great company to be associated with.

--          (Edward Jones 1         21 sec              "I like to come to work every day ... recognized for.")

Inga Siefert (sigh-fer) started in Johnson's office, but now runs her own Edward Jones branch here. She says the structure and procedures the company has in place are attractive to her:

--          (Edward Jones 2         26 sec              "A couple different things ... working for Edward Jones.")

Johnson admits that the tough times on Wall Street and Main Street over the past year have been a challenge, but it also provided an opportunity:

--          (Edward Jones 3         41 sec              "Around February and ... assistance is sometimes needed.")

Edward Jones was ranked number two nationally on Fortune Magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work For in America."

The Alaska Journal of Commerce ranking is determined by a confidential survey of employees from companies around the state. Two other companies with branches in Kodiak also made the list: Credit Union 1 placed second, and Alaska USA Federal Credit Union was sixth.

You can hear Johnson every weekday on KMXT's Evening Report, where he provides the Daily Market Report.
