Coming up Saturday  is an informal holiday that you may not yet be familiar with: It's International Talk Like a Pirate Day . One of the co-founders of the movement is Mark Summers, better known in the pirating world as Cap'n Slappy. He's in Alaska for the observance of this year's Talk Like a Pirate Day to give a talk before a class at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

--          (Pirate 1          6 sec    "I'm as tickled as a manatee with a feather under me nose. Ha Harrr.")

Cap'n Slappy started Talk Like a Pirate Day with his friend, John Baur, known as "Ol' Chumbucket" in the pirating world. The two met doing community theater in Albany, Oregon:

--          (Pirate 2          45 sec              "Well, it's the only holiday ... wasn't using it anymore.")

Cap'n Slappy had a few tips for non-pirates to help them talk like a pirate, starting with the "Five A's:"

--          (Pirate 3          32 sec              "Ahoy is, ‘Hello,' Avast is ... Arrrrr is the word for you.")

At the very least, Cap'n Slappy says end each sentence this way:

--          (Pirate 4          42 sec              "Add ‘Me Hearties,' ... Wildly attractive to people.")

Get more tips and phrases at Talk Like a Pirate dot com, and be prepared for the big day Saturday (tomorrow).
