Last week at its regular meeting the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly approved the introduction of two ordinances which would authorize the issuance of bonds for reconstruction and renovation of the Kodiak High School. Approving the introduction of the ordinances is a preliminary step. The ordinances now advance to the public hearing stage which will take place on August 6th. At that time the assembly will determine whether or not the measure will go to the voters in October.

In other business, the assembly renewed its contract with Providence Kodiak Island Counseling Center to provide services to the school district for the upcoming school year. The contract, around 380,000 dollars, is the same amount as last year.

Funding for non-profit organizations was also approved by the assembly for just over 265,000 dollars.
