Kodiak City Councilman Jack Maker has resigned. In a letter to the mayor and his colleagues, Maker said he no longer lives within city limits, and therefore was forced to step down.

The council will accept his resignation at its meeting on Thursday, and likely publicize the vacancy. The council has until July 9th to appoint his replacement, who will then serve until the municipal elections in October, at which time the seat will be on the ballot for a one-year term. Maker was elected in 2007 to a three year term on the council.
