           The whales and the crabs have their own celebration and now so do the brown bears. The Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge along with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game is hosting the first ever Kodiak Brown Bear Days. Also, this week KNWR is hosting the Far North Film Festival. Hans Klausner from KNWR and Larry Van Daele from Fish and Game were guest's on this week's show. Listen to hear more about the events and some tips on how to stay safe around bears as they start to come out of hibernation.

            This week's guest is Terry Haines. He's on the Kodiak City Council and is involved with the Alaska Municipal League and the Crewman's Association. He's been active in the push to get the state to start collecting data on crewman. The information would be valuable to fishing communities, but the practicalities of gathering the data are, so far, insurmountable.

Dresdow was diagnosed with advanced stage Lyme disease and is paying thousands of dollars each month to fight it. Today's guests Suzanne Bobo and Vic Downing have been fundraising for Dresdow since last spring.
