The purpose of this campaign is to educate and inform the Kodiak community about how to reduce energy consumption, recycle resources and products and reuse rather than discard materials.
Kodiak enjoys some of the best drinking water in the country. So why do we drink so much bottled water? Hi, I'm Marion Owen. Marty and I encourage you to Take Back the Tap and rediscover Kodiak's wonderful drinking water. It's a myth that bottled water is safer than tap water. In fact, the federal government requires far more rigorous testing and monitoring of municipal drinking water. Bottled water is thousands of times more expensive than tap water. What's more, eight out of 10 plastic water bottles end up in the landfill and Kodiak's landfill will be maxed out in less than ten years. How embarrassing that we pay more for a bottle of water than we do for a gallon of gas. So give bottled water the boot. Encourage your friends and family to take back the tap!
