The purpose of this campaign is to educate and inform the Kodiak community about how to reduce energy consumption, recycle resources and products and reuse rather than discard materials.
Did you know that there have been water shortages in Kodiak? In fact there have been times in Kodiak’s past where seafood processing, a mainstay of our local economy, has been curtailed due to a shortage of water in our reservoirs. Teach your family the value of water conservation at home by following this tip: When washing dishes by hand - and that’s the most efficient way – use the least amount of detergent possible. This minimizes the amount of rinse water needed. You’ll save anywhere from 50 to 150 gallons a month. Imagine the water saved if every household followed this advice. Lets conserve one of Kodiak’s most important natural resources.

The Kodiak Chamber of Commerce believes that conservation starts at home.
