            Healthcare reform is the subject of an upcoming town hall meeting in Kodiak. Senator Lisa Murkowski will take part in the meeting via live video from Washington. The meeting is sponsored by the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce. Pam Foreman is the community relations director for the chamber.

           Kodiak's new pool is nearly ready for its grand opening. On Thursday the project architect is scheduled to make a final inspection of the new facility. KMXT's Diana Gish spoke with borough project manager Ken Smith about the pool and then takes us along for the first big splash.

            The U.S. Coast Guard helped coordinate the medevac of a young woman from a cruise ship about 30 miles west of Prudhoe Bay Thursday. She was suffering from appendicitis. Coast Guard spokesman Walter Shinn in Juneau described the operation.

$700,000 Already Received for Pedestrian Improvements on Shelikof

            The Kodiak City Council approved its state construction project wish-list at its last meeting. Topping the list for the second year in a row is a request in the amount of 3.9-million dollars for an ultraviolet water treatment system. Number two on the list is 3-million dollars to finish the jail portion of the new police station.
