Borough Assembly considers new liquor license and reviews transfer of property to Ouzinkie

Story by Kavitha George, KMXT Report and Producer.

The Borough Assembly is having a regular meeting tonight. On the agenda is a public hearing for a new liquor license application for a restaurant owner hoping to set up shop near the airport.

The assembly will also be reviewing the transfer of a tax foreclosed property from the borough to the city of Ouzinkie, as well as some amendments to the 2019 fiscal year budgets.

Finally, the assembly will also be considering the Solid Waste Advisory Board’s hearing decision from earlier this week on an appeal to a waste pickup contract awarded to Alaska Waste in May. The engineering and public facilities director for the borough initially declined the appeal request, and on Tuesday the Solid Waste Advisory Board held up the director’s decision to deny the appeal.

As always, there will be an opportunity for citizens’ comments at the beginning and end of the meeting. KMXT will broadcast the meeting live at 6:30 pm tonight.
