The "Dan" that Misty was referring to is Dan Canavan who is the volunteer community director for Kodiak Special Olympics. He’ll be leading the Kodiak Team to the Special Olympic Summer Games in Anchorage this weekend. The 13 Kodiak competitors participating this weekend qualified for the event by practicing their sport and by competing in the local qualifying meet. Canavan said that all together, around 60 athletes participate in the Special Olympics program in Kodiak.
